Hey Ben, I just wanted to say that you have an awesome thing going here on your site with the sheet music and the tutorials they have pointed me in the right direction many a time, thank you.

Hi Ben, My congratulations to everything you have achieved this past year! All your videos has been a great help to my reentry to playing the violin. Just a question about shifting that I have not heard anybody else ask. 40 plus years ago the teacher would say this passage is played in the 3rd positioned and it was never questioned. Now I like to know how do you decide what position to play in? Is it a personal preference? Thanks again for all the work you do!

Hi Ben, I've been watching your video and it's great and I have a question if u don't mind. Do our violin actually have something that can prevent violin's string from cutting through violin's bridge? For example, Sting E and string A are the string that mostly cut through my bridge a lot.
Thanks and Regards.

Just a note to the fellow people on chamberhymes. You people should listen to the man in the iron mask: heart of a king and tell me what you think. Love comments/votes/opinions.

Hi Ben, it´s simply GREAT what you´re doing, thanks! My question: I´d like to vote for "Ashokan Farewell" Doc and The Lady but nothing is happening when I click on the vote button. The song still has 0 votes, so I was wondering if other people have the same problem, too.

Hey Ben,
this is a great website and a good support in learning the violine. I´ve read that currently you are not producing anymore videos due to cost issues. have you thought about using "google adwords" on your page in order to finance it? surely the google company must be looked at critically, but every user would benefit from more videos :)

I do not want to advertise google here!

keep up the good work,
greetings from germany.

Hi Ben. Long time. Just wanted to thank you and commend you for your transcription of "Red Violin Pope's Concert" and Paul Dateh's "Hip Hop Violin". Those must have been murderous. Well done and thanks.
As a side note.... Have you ever heard the group "Nuttin but Stringz"? If not, please check them out. You might like. Thanks again.

I can't unstiffen my hand D:
And When i tried vibrato once , i ended up vibrating my finger up and down instead .. So I'm used to that and I can't stop.... >.<

To me vibrato is difficult ._.
Do you have any tips on how to become unstiff and for me to easier learn vibrato O.o if possible?

i love the site and the videos. but couldnt visit for a while cause the internet was down in my house. i like the new format of the voting with the bottom few a the top but i notice that some of the options have disapeared.
mostly the one i was pushing for the aria asia cannon rock which had a good 600 votes seems to have disappeared.:(

I like your videos, especially your energy/soul you put into work. I love your idea in Introd.&Rondo Capr. so i'll just use it in my play. Wish I could hear more your play with orch or piano :)
Good luck!
p.s. Maybe by chance you played fugue from Bach's II Sonata and you have video..?

On the rules that you have for requsting music, you say that I caqn't request any thing that has already been transcribed. The problem I have is that song I want has already been transcribed but I can't find any music for it. Can you write back and tell me if it is ok to request this song? The Davy Jones theme from pirates of the carabean

Hey Ben, is nice to see you have returned to the site, I have feel it has been forgoten for a while. Anyway, I just want to say I was interested on buying your CD but listening the preview I decided not to buy it. Dont take it bad, you are a great player but I am afraid I dont really like the clasical, sad style of your CD. I want to suggest... Why dont you make another disc with diferent music style, for example Latin music or SudAmerican folklore music. I will surely buy it!

Hi Ben, I'm VERY interested in getting myself an er hu. I'm not sure if you've heard of it but its kind of a 2 stringed chinese violin. However, they seem to be extremely hard to find in America XD. Any suggestions on how i might be able to get a reasonably decent one?
Thanks :)

Hello Ben! I have two questions for you. I always see the musical terms 'espressivo' and I know what that means. It means to play expressively, but I don't know how to play expressively and I would like to know how that sounds. Okay, my second question, is it okay for me to paste your site onto my site so my friends and family can join yours. I know it might sound silly, but I'm writing this to you so I can have your permission. Thanks Anyways!!

Dear Ben,
I'm looking to get a very nice violin. I would like to have one made by a highly regarded maker. I know a solo violin, for a home player like me, meant for a concert hall wouldn’t work well for me, but I will be performing with it every chance I get. I’m looking for a powerful yet warm sounding instrument. What are, in your knowledge and expertise, the best violin makers out there by modern day makers that I should look for when I finally get the finances to buy one?

From: Cynthia M. Tue, 07/13/10 12:41am
Thanks so much Ben. I appreciate your reply and help!! To me I think getting a reply from one of the best violinists that I know of so far is really cool and inspiring in a certain way. I rely on your help and don't worry about my chain. I just needed the right info to my problem which your reply is resourceful and the solution to my problem. Thank you so MUCH!!

Sincerely, Cynthia M.
